Archana Singh
My name is Archana Singh, and I am a feminist geographer. I am currently a PhD student in the department of geography at Pennsylvania State University. I am interested in understanding the spatialities of women’s leisure in Lucknow city, India. I aim to look beyond the conventional understanding of leisure that is place and activity-centric and focus on women’s everyday experiences of leisure, which are governed by multiple actors and various scales. I primarily work with qualitative methods and sometimes use GIS and statistical tools in my research.
Prior to joining Penn State, I worked as a project scientist at the Transport Research and Injury Prevention Centre, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. I have also previously worked at the National Council of Educational Training and Research, Government of India, Delhi.
I received my MPhil and master’s degree in geography from the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in geography from Miranda House, University of Delhi, India.
